Dr. Ali Irani is a renowned and honored personality in the field of physiotherapy. His proficiency is highly sought after in the sports world. He was the physiotherapist for Indian cricket team from 1987-1997. He has extensive experience working with professional athletes at state and national level. He has also helped several famous Bollywood celebrities recover from serious injuries.
Dr. Ali Irani graduated from reputed M.S University, Baroda and completed a Ph.D. in Sports Medicine and Ph.D. in Anatomy of Body Movement and Dance. Presently he is the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center at Dr. B. Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. He is also the President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and the Vice-President of Bombay District Sports Medicine Association. He has done intensive research on key topics like Knee Mobility, Backache, Fitness & Sports injuries, Hammer Tone for Frozen Shoulder, and presented papers on the same at various national and international conferences. He is the visiting faculty and Ph.D. guide at various universities in India. He regularly conducts workshops and lectures on Disaster Management across the country.
He was awarded the prestigious “HITRA ORATION” Award in 1994 for achievements made in the field of Physiotherapy and the Lifetime Achievement Award by Indian Association of Physiotherapy, 2004.
